The Boston Seafood Tour will take you through a culinary journey into the vibrant Seaport District and along the Boston Harbor waterfront. In addition to hearing some only-in-Boston stories and history, you’ll sample classic regional dishes and responsible, locally-sourced favorites as you discover why Beantown continues to be the heart of New England’s seafood scene!
Your tour begins at Independence Wharf – the perfect spot to mix seafood and history. From here, you’ll have perfect views of Fort Point and the Seaport District, where generations of fishermen have docked with their freshest catch. You’ll also be able to take in the spot of one of the most famous moments in pre-Revolution American history – the Boston Tea Party. Don’t worry, though, nothing we eat on this tour will be thrown into the Harbor. We’ll set off towards the bustling Seaport District and head to our first seafood stop.
The first destination on your Boston Seafood Tour is for classic New England clam chowder. Your guide will choose their favorite local spot for the famous “chowdah,” and you’ll be tasting the original style with a cream-based broth – we’re not in Manhattan! You may share a flavorful side dish with your group at this first stop, or your guide may choose to save the fried goodness for later on in the tour.
Next, you’ll have a taste of a lobster roll, served the traditional way – in a hot dog bun! This is a relatively new addition to New England fare, invented as early as 1929. Here, you’ll enjoy this tasty regional delicacy at an establishment known for prioritizing locally- and responsibly-sourced seafood. Savor each bite, because lobster this fresh and delicious is almost impossible to find outside of New England.
After this tasty start to the tour, take a stroll with your guide along the Boston Harbor waterfront and Fan Pier. This area consists of a fantastic mix of dazzling high-rises, restaurants, bustling bars, shopping, lush parks, and, of course, epic views of the Harbor. Explore Fan Pier for a closer look at both fishing vessels and mega-yachts alike, and snap a photo against the backdrop of East Boston and Logan International Airport.
We’ll then head back inland (just a bit) for our final bite of the tour. At this point, your guide will choose the best local seafood option for you to enjoy. Fried clams at a neighborhood favorite restaurant, oysters at a trendy spot in Fort Point, or a seasonal option nearby are all possibilities for this final stop. Seafood has always been a staple in Boston, and we’re here to share the best of the city and region with you.
Once you’ve finished with your final tasting, your tour ends and you’ll be situated perfectly to continue on for an afternoon of fun in the Seaport District. Now that your seafood appetite has been whetted, your guide will happily give you recommendations for bars, local breweries, or restaurants for dinner.
